Hauling Chalks

After sad goodbyes and long flights, we are finally at our destination!

Let me recap what occured on our trip over:

First, I had to say goodbye to my darling family (well, most of them) at the Charlotte airport. My mom cried (a little). I didn't but I will miss them very much!

Us at the Airport:

Then we passed through security, making absolutely no jokes about any monkey business. Once past that, we headed for the very fancy US Air lounge/enclave with all the business men and their little glasses of wine. We relaxed there for a little while- I called some friends and read.
Finally, we went the international terminal and boarded our Luftansa jet, grabbing the Wall Street Journal as we walked. The flight was quite pleasant. It was a large plane with plenty of space for all of us. It was a long flight, but I watched a dumb movie, an episode of House and fell asleep. Grandma seemed to sleep pretty well too.

Then we arrived in Munich, quickly walked through our passport check and headed to our gate. The Munich was kind of interesting- the main area was basically a shopping mall, but the gates themselves were very spartan. I read the Bible for a while and caught a few z's. After about 3 hours it was time to go again, so we walked down to a bus, which drove us to our plane out on the tarmac, which I thought was weird. So we piled on the plane:

It was a small plane that we took over to Warsaw, but again very comfortable. They served us lunch (two sandwitches!) and the flight was over before we knew it.

So we were finally in Poland! At the airport, we still had another three hours to wait for our group to arrive. So I bought a coke at the cafe at the terminal and just relaxed for a while. Then I went a took a look around the airport.

Apparently, this is what the Polish drive:

I wanted to go to the observation desk, but I had no money on me at the time:
From Grandma Theresa:
This is one great adventure! After our group got together (there are 25 of us from UK, Germany, USA, Israel) we took a Mercedes bus to our hotel in Warsaw, the Novotel Centrum. Warsaw is a beautiful city and very large. After sleeeping for about an hour, we rode through the Old City and walked to a lovely restaurant on a huge square of the OCity. Lovely meal - after which everyone introduced themselves and we got a bit of orientation from Shalmi, our Israeli guide and Krys, our Polish guide. Weather is perfect!
